Former Republican Secretary of State Bruce McPherson increased his lead over Eric Hammer in his bid to return to elected politics. County Clerk Gail Pellerin released the latest results after counting over 30,000 vote-by-mail ballots that were received on election day either by mail or dropped off at polling places.
Initially heavily favored, McPherson has increased the 26 vote lead he had on election night to 245 with a total vote count of 11,823 (50.33%) to Hammer’s 11,578 (49.29%).
An additional 9,000 provisional ballots from throughout the county still need to be researched and counted before an official winner will be declared.
