San Lorenzo Valley Workshop on Public Safety, Incarceration and our Community:
When: Thursday, September 27th from 7-9pm
Where: St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church – 9980 Highway 9, Ben Lomond
· Childcare available upon request.
What: Recent changes to our criminal justice system, the most prominent being AB109/Prison Realignment, offer an opportunity for us as community members to work together with our elected officials and decision makers to create a criminal justice system that fosters accountability, dignity and safety for all. We want to hear from you to help maximize this opportunity!
You are invited to participate in an upcoming “Workshop on Public Safety, Incarceration and our Community” to learn more and provide input on how our community implements prison realignment and other reforms. Among other special guests, Chief Deputy Jim Hart will be present to provide accurate and current information regarding prison realignment.
There have been several similar workshop opportunities across the County. Each workshop offers you the opportunity to:
Ø Get informed:
o Learn the facts about our criminal justice system: Who is in our jails? What are the most common offenses people are in jail for in our county? What is our recidivism rate? What is prison realignment? And much more…
Ø Have a voice:
o Help our community understand your questions, concerns, fears or frustrations with the current criminal justice system and/or prison realignment
o Provide input on changes that can positively impact our community
Ø Help make change:
o Learn about opportunities to get involved in creating a better system by becoming a community volunteer or advocate
