The First Place prize in the 5-11 year old age category of the Save the Redwoods Art Contest went to a student named Santiago from the Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary School. Nearly a thousand entrants were received and the Save the Redwoods League is urging people to send an e-card to President Obama inviting him to visit a redwood park this year. You can send the President, or anyone, an e-card featuring Santiago's collage and message: "Our Redwoods are homes of banana slugs." Maybe Sasha and Malia would like to see a slug up close!
