Run of Toy Trains in The Redwoods to End

The toy train exhibit at the Visitor Center in Henry Cowell Redwood State Park comes to the end of a month long run this weekend (4/11).  Sponsored by the Mountain Parks Foundation, the Over the Hill Gang and California State Parks this retro-rendezvous of O-Scale (classic Lionel type) trains depicting railroads from the 1800s to present day and beyond is well worth a visit.  the exhibit features steam and diesel engines pulling freight and passengers with flashing headlights, engines roaring and smoke billowing.

This layout features trains winding and chugging through miniature redwoods, towns, the enchanted wilderness, a space base, a construction site, bridge, tunnel and more. The young and young at heart can operate trains and accessories, including an operating crane, a marble maze, and 4 different tracks on a 8x20 layout or just watch in delight! Admission is FREE – Parking $10, $9 for seniors or FREE if you have your Annual State Parks Day Use Parking Pass. Snacks and drinks are available in the Nature Store.

Ends April 11, 2010 Open Daily 11am-5pm
