SLVNews From Facebook and Twitter 3-16

Note: SLVNews has a lively and active following on Twitter and Facebook and we post there more regularly than here.  We're going to experiment by bringing some of that information to the blog once a week or so and see how readers here like it.  We've also added an email feed where you can sign up to get every new blog post sent to you on a daily or weekly basis. Of course if you're on Facebook or Twitter we hope you follow and like us there too.

ARE YOU PREPARED?
Via Ray Soler: When disaster strikes, will you be ready? The time to plan is now. Recent events should be a wake up call: It CAN and it WILL happen here. One way to prepare is to take the CERT training offered by most Fire Departments in the county. In the Valley, that would be Felton Fire. A new class begins April 6th, at 6:30 PM. For more info on CERT, see www.feltonfire.com or www.santacruzcountycert.org

TOP SPELLERS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Congratulations to SLV Middle School County Spelling Bee participants. Zoe Webb (8th), Mimi Cafiero (7th), and Cameron Brown (6th), all placed in the Top Ten of the Santa Cruz County Spelling Bee out of 125 of the top student spellers.

TWO SHOWS WITH THE COFFIS BROTHERS
Ben Lomond brothers, Jamie and Kellen Coffis have two local shows this week: On Thursday, St Patrick's Day they will be performing at Bocce's Cellar and on Saturday night they'll be in downtown Santa Cruz at Clouds. No cover either night. Drop in and catch some great rock and roll, hear some new songs and shake a leg or two.
