SV/SLV SOCCER SEASON OPENS

It was opening weekend for local soccer clubs and over 100 teams in the SVSLV Soccer Club were in action at fields throughout the county and beyond. The club is fielding 21 teams this year who play in advanced leagues that include teams from all over Northern California. Our local club has produced a number of great soccer players including the following who continue to play at the collegiate level:

Caitlin Meadows followed her two goal game with an assist on the winning goal as Long Island University moves to 4-1-1 on the season. Maria Esquivias is getting significant minutes off the bench for the San Jose State (2-5) who travel to Reno for pair of games this weekend before returning to Spartan Stadium to play St Mary’s on Sunday Sep 26 at 5PM.

Forward Danny Adamson and Midfielder Gabe Hernandez are both seeing action for the Cabrillo Seahawks who are on the road until returning to face Foothill on Tuesday 9/28 at 7:00 PM and Gabriel Cassaro will try and help Bethany University (1-3) stop a three match losing streak when they host California Maritime Academy on Sept 24th and Holy Names on Sept 28th. Sites and time to be announced. Kellen Coffis missed his first start in since arriving at Notre Dame de Namur (3-1) after suffering a dislocated shoulder in a 3-0 win over UC San Diego. His Argos dispatched St Martins University 2-0 on Sunday and he expects to be back in action as the team opens their Pacific Western Conference schedule on Thursday vs University of Hawaii, Hilo at 2PM in Belmont.
