Mountain Community Resource annual "Italian Affaire" fundraiser Oct. 1
Felton, Calif., Sept. 20, 2010 -- Mountain Community Resources will hold its annual benefit, The Italian Affaire, on Friday, Oct. 1 at the Cocoanut Grove in Santa Cruz.
All proceeds from the live and silent auctions - which include items from vacation houses in Mexico, Maui, and Brazil to gift certificates to local restaurants and locally-made gifts - go to fund MCR's programs to help San Lorenzo Valley families and individuals.
"Last year's attendees got some amazing deals on vacations, dinners and locally-made gifts and this year we've got nearly 60 items up for auction," said MCR Executive Director Jennifer Anderson-Bähr. "We raised more than $20,000 last year, all in support of our community programs."
MCR is in the process of merging with Community Bridges, one of the largest and most experienced health and human services non-profits in Santa Cruz County. The shared goal of the merger is to improve the two agency's capacity to be responsive to community needs and to increase their financial and organizational stability. All proceeds from the Italian Affaire will stay in the valley, and will go to support MCR and their numerous programs..
