Loch Lomond Opens on Monday 7:00AM

The jewel that is known as Loch Lomond, on Newell Creek in Lompico opens to the public for the 2010 season on Monday March 1 at 7:00 AM (not 6:00 AM, as had been the custom). The relatively small "loch" is 2.5 miles by .5 miles at it's widest. It's been full to overflowing for awhile now.

Fishing, boating, picnicking, and hiking are all available, although no swimming is allowed and restrictions on watercraft require you to either rent from the available fleet or have your boat cleaned, inspected and stored (all for a fee). Contact recreation area staff at 831-335-7424 for more information.

From the City of Santa Cruz::
Due to the concern regarding contamination of the lake with aquatic invasive species such as Eurasian mussel, private boat launch will be restricted to boats that are stored at Loch Lomond Recreation Area for the season.
Fishsniffer.com has nice hand drawn map of the fishing spots. Go to bahiker.com for complete information on hiking trails including lots of pictures. Lompico.org has a great trail map here.
